First talk to your carpet manufacture before trying to remove the stain. Some carpets have warranties against staining. The manufacturers can refuse to honor the warranty if a consumer has used a product on it to remove staining other than what the manufacturer recommends.

If you don't have a carpet warranty or receive any information from the manufacturer, here are some tips:

Small spills

Spray some isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) on a sponge and blot up. Be sure to do a colorfast test first

Large Spills

Large product spills will typically require the use of extraction-type equipment or professional cleaning. Use with water ONLY, no cleaning agents. Walking on carpet which still has a residue of product will cause the residual product to rise to the surface where it will attract soils.

If the carpet backing becomes excessively wet, the dyes in the backing can bleed. As the area dries, the backing dye is carried to the surface of the rug and deposited. Consult a professional carpet cleaning company.

If the product spilled contains a colorant, the colorant may discolor carpeting or upholstery.
